Mines all over the world...

As you can see in the map above all over the world you can find mines. The main difference is that mostly in countries of global north the technologies used in the process of extraction as well as the security management is better so the damage of the environment and the risk of catastrophies is smaller.

Copper: 

 

 

Aluminium: 

used in nearly all technology with electricity (e.g. electrical lines)

 

used in all products, in which the weight should be as low as possible (aerospace, vehicle construction, house appliances etc.)
